I have a SIDE HUSTLE!

A side-hustle is the term we use now to describe a second job. But I think the Internet has lent itself to allow people to actually create businesses. Back in 2014 I did exactly that when I took a hobby and passion and created McKay Custom Sports. I have collected sports memorabilia since about 2005 – when I got married coincidentally; now divorced – but I started to think the pieces I was collecting could be cooler. I also had ideas of putting grand pieces together. I’ve always been artistic and creative and then it hit me to commission an artist to hand-paint on these items.

Fast forward to 2014 and after a lot of friends and family saw these pieces in my collection, I realized there was a market for this kind of memorabilia, so I started the business. It’s not really to earn extra cash (it’s definitely nice though) but a way to be focused on something totally different than my day-to-day career. I love both, but it’s nice to have an outlet for a passion too.
